Verizon, one of the USA's largest telecommunication service provider plans to provide Nationwide narrowband IoT coverage. Currently, Verizon has enabled Narrowband IoT or NB-IoT is available for more than 92% of the US population.
Verizon plans to achieve a massive milestone in the history of connected devices by providing connectivity nationwide. NB-IoT is a low-cost communication medium for many types of projects and many types of industries.
Verizon targets to business to grow beyond their limitations and to enable more projects in the USA including,
- Smart Cities with sensors monitored parking facilities in the cities, make waste management ecosystem more connected, allow cities to have smart public lighting solutions with connected networks via NB-IoT.
- Smart Buildings with connected smoke detectors to ensure high safety standards, battery level check remotely, and real-time alerting mechanism to alert fire and rescue teams.
- Industrial solutions with connected machinery to monitor and get updates of the equipment status, factory control, process, and safety enhancements.
- Environment Monitoring to keep cities and environments connected with the wildlife department and fire and rescue departments to be updated at the time of a wildfire and to ensure animals in the reserves are safe from the poachers.
- Agriculture to implement many solutions including connected livestock farming, connected greenhouses, monitor air quality, temperature, humidity, soil moisture level, and outer space variables.
- Asset Tracking by implementing a tracking device into the logistics industry and to allow geofencing of products and local shipments.
- Utility monitoring to allow more low-cost solutions to implement connected meters to monitor electricity usage, water usage, and gas usage.
