2. History

WhatsApp is founded by Brian Acton and Jan Koum which are former employees of Yahoo in January 2009. The initial idea came after purchasing an Apple iPhone and they realized that there's a potential for an App in the App Store.

But Brian Action and Jan Koum were not anywhere close to being an iPhone or iOS App developing. After Koum having a chat with one of his friends named Alex Fishman in West San Jose, USA, Koum got to know about RentACoder.com which made its way for Brian Action and Jan Koum to find a Russian Developer. They got the initial release and published it on App Store and They made WhatsApp an incorporated in the USA on 24th February 2009.

WhatsApp is licensed as a freeware type software app and WhatsApp acquired by Facebook, the world's most popular social network platform in February 2014 for an approximate price tag of US$ 19.3 Billion. After the acquisition of Facebook, WhatsApp made few more features like voice calling in WhatsApp furthermore to the chatting type of services.
