Microsoft Windows Server OS is a pay to use product which requires users to pay to use the Server OS.
2. History
Microsoft Server OS do traces it's origin to the workstation operating systems which released on an early stage. In the initial days, the internet wasn't that popular and the connectivity wasn't available commonly like today. Because of that reason, Microsoft didn't really focus on developing a server operating system. Microsoft kept focusing on developing standalone personal usable operating systems.With the later times, when the connectivity was more available commonly an organization started developing client-server architecture products, Microsoft started getting into the developing server operating systems that are specific for requirements.
