1. What is GSMA?

GSMA stands for Global System for Mobile Communications and in original language Groupe Special Mobile. GSMA is originally a trade body that represents the interests of the mobile network operator and telecommunication service provides globally.

GSMA supports developing and build telecommunication ecosystems for its members which are the telecommunication and cellular service providers.

2. History

GSMA was initially formed in 1995 with an objective to support and promote mobile operators using GSM. GSMA offered membership option to telecommunication companies and mobile ecosystem developing companies to come together.

GSMA is currently headquartered in London, UK and currently, GSMA does have 1200 companies registered with the memberships.
