1. What is Ericsson?

Ericsson is a multinational networking and telecommunications company headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden for the moment. Ericsson does hold a large market share estimated 35% from the global networking and 2G/ 3G/ 4G mobile network infrastructure market in 2012.

2. History

Ericsson is founded in 1876 in Sweden by Lars Magnus Ericsson. Lars worked in a firm that made telegraph equipment for the Swedish government agency known as Telegrafverket. At the age of 30, Lars started his own telegraph repair shop with the help of his friend named Carl Johan Andersson in central Stockholm.

They majorly repaired the foreign-made telephones. In 1878 Ericsson also started making telephone equipment but they were not technically innovative. Lars brought down a number of Siemens telephones to Stockholm and kept analyzing them and researched the technology behind Siemens equipment.

After years later Ericsson became the major supplier of telephone equipment to Scandinavia and slowly grew in the UK and other regions of the world by expanding the product line also.

3. Products of Ericsson

Ericsson is an infrastructure manufacture and a platform player. Ericsson is in the business model of a B2B which means selling the products manufactured by the business to another business. Unlike other products, B2B business models do have bundled products that are complex.

Ericsson is in the telecommunication and network business and Ericsson does manufacture infrastructure to the telecommunication companies in the world according to international standards like 3GPP.
