Bluetooth 3.0 is a core specification change and introduced by the Bluetooth SIG on 21st April 2009. Bluetooth version 3.0 is also known as the Bluetooth version 3.0 HS.
Technology
Bluetooth 3.0 HS is known as the high-speed Bluetooth 3.0. The theoretical transfer speed of Bluetooth 3.0 is 24Mbit/s. To achieve the high-speed data transfer, Bluetooth version 3.0 uses IEEE 802.11 standard rather than using the IEEE 802.5.1 standard to transfer data and to create the link. In addition to the IEEE 802.11 transport link, Bluetooth 3.0 is embedded with a new feature named AMP which is known as Alternative MAC/PHY which is a high-speed transport link.
Bluetooth version 3.0 does have L2CAP Enhanced modes which are Enhanced Retransmission Mode also known as ERTM to implements reliable L2CAP channels while Streaming Mode or SM implements unreliable channel with no retransmission or flow control.
In version 3.0, Bluetooth enabled the use of alternative MAC and PHYs for transporting Bluetooth profile data and the 2.4GHz 802.5.1 used to discover the device to get paired or to identify the device. But when sending the large-sized data packets, that is sent via high-speed MAC or PHY 802.11.
In Bluetooth version 3.0, it uses unicast connectionless data sending which means the data can be sent to a device without permission by the L2CAP channel. Since the latency is a concern when it comes to the streaming via Bluetooth.
With all the other features, Bluetooth version 3.0 comes with enhanced power control is a feature. Enhanced Power Control optimizes the power control capabilities in connectivity and streaming.
