There were multiple types of storage devices that used several stages of computer generation. Storage devices that do have the possibility of reading and write data are more valuable.


What is HDD?

HDD stands for Hard Disk Drives. From the early stage computers in multiple generations, there were multiple types of storage devices used which made out of magnetic drums and tapes.

The name HDD says more about what actually is an HDD. HDD is an electromagnetic storage type that uses disks that record data electromagnetically. HDD introduced by IBM in 1956 as a secondary storage device. 

Why secondary storage device? the HDD devices are not that speed to read and write data and make them a primary storage device like RAM. Due to the nature of HDD, it cannot perform at such high speed as RAM

HDD uses disks made by alloy and keeps uses laser point sized needle type tool read and write data into the disks. The HDD needs to perform a mechanical operation to perform like it's designed. The disks inside the HDD need to rotate at high speed per minute and the data reading pins with arms need to go to the specific places in the hard disk drive and read the data which needs to be read and write.

The global standard for HDD does carry two sizes. 3.5 Inches and 2.5 Inches as mentioned in the above table.

Specs and the performances of a hard disk drive matters extremely. The speed of disk rotation and the data transfer speed and data read and write speed extremely important to perform the computer run smoothly. Manufacturers offer multiple spec hard disk drives to cater to different types of computer systems.
