Society of Automotive Engineers which is a professional association and standards developing organization for various industries updates the standard for Electro Deposition of Gold under the AMS03_17A amendment upon AMS03_17 which was published by 30th April 2015.

According to the latest update which affects the aerospace industry, SAE has updated the requirements for electrodeposition of gold on ferrous base materials, copper base materials, aluminum base materials, zinc base materials, and nickel base materials for MOD uses. The SAE States that this initiation is to increase the electrical conductivity of the surface and to provide a solderable surface. However, this amendment doesn't cover the gold plating of threaded items. This has been issued by the AMS B Finishes Processes and Fluids Committee.
